So Leo-Like

Yes, I had to soak in the full birthday experience with a week off from blogging (and 2 weeks of celebrating). So, what did I get?? Well, lots of goodies, but the present I have been getting the MOST use out of is my new speaker system. Now, I can let iTunes take me away while I work diligently on my many projects...and posts.

MGM Grand Foxwoods

I just returned from a rendezvous at Foxwoods. Since I'd been there many times in my life, I pretty much knew what to expect (lots of winning and over-indulging). But, it was what I DIDN'T expect that was most memorable...it's neighbor, the MGM Grand. The MGM Grand at Foxwoods opened in May 2008. It's a small scale casino with much more of a modern and young vibe. Definitely more my taste design-wise. Fabulous indoor decor, healthier/more affordable food choices, and (best yet) you can go OUTSIDE! And we did! And it was so nice to have that option. Being near the glistening outdoor pool made me want summer to last forever. Not a typical feeling to have when you're at Foxwoods and have no idea what time of day or year it is. I would love to go back soon...while the sun is still shining.

Patterned Bridesmaids Dresses

While looking through a friend's wedding photos, I came across two women in matching black and white dresses. Thinking they were bridesmaids, I thought, "Wow, what a clever idea!" Turns out they weren't bridesmaids. They just happened to have be wearing the same dress. But, how clever? Out of all the weddings I've been to, I've never seen patterned bridesmaids gowns and I think it would be very cool. Perhaps you can match your invites to the pattern on the dress?

Eco-Friendly Envelopes

I happened across sinamay envelopes this morning and was very intrigued. The all natural sinamay, woven from fine natural fibers is the latest trend in eco-friendly packaging. The natural color is fresh and perfect for beach themed events. I would love to design an invitation package with this material someday.

Monogrammed Card Holders

For a thoughtful bridesmaid’s gift, buy a gift card to her favorite boutique and present in a monogrammed card holder you designed just for her! Choose from 5 color-pattern combinations and have a single letter monogram embroidered on the flap for a personalized accessory that all your gal pals will love.

Parasols

Are you having an outdoor or garden wedding? Get your bridemaids to carry fancy parasols instead of a bouquet while walking down the aisle.

Beach-Themed Favor

The perfect favor for a beach-themed wedding or shower! This magnet, from Heart Paper Soul, comes wrapped in a luminous Midori ribbon bow and favor tag with your choice of wording.

Kitty Wigs

I don't have a cat. But if I did, I would get it a Kitty Wig™. Absolutely.

Pinwheel Bouquet

Pinwheels made from scrapbook papers can be arranged in a large vase as a whimsical "bouquet" for a party or wedding.

PhotoStrip Band

I came across this cute idea for a belly band for a favor. This particular sample, from One Girl Cookies, gives your guests several things to savor!

Customized Wedding Boutonnières

Twigs & Honey has created an amazing twist to the traditional boutonnière. Instead of a boring flower, why not wear a true conversation piece...feathers, dried flowers, faux berries and nuts, ribbon, leaves and more.

The Faux Bow from Unbridledpress

Punch the card with two holes about a finger’s width apart. From the front of the card, thread each ribbon end through a hole then cross underneath and bring each end through the opposite hole. Trim as required. .

Six Degrees of...

Have you ever attended a wedding and wondered how the bride and groom are connected to all of their guests? This information graphic by Melangerie cleverly displays how the bride and groom know each of their guests, which guests are connected to each other, and how long each guest has been in acquaintance with the happy couple. Here is another idea based on this concept. Very cool!

Wedding Programs

I love the beginning stages of projects. Researching ideas and gathering inspiration is absolutely my favorite part of the process. Currently I'm in the "brainstorming" phase of designing a program for one of my brides-to-be. Here are some of my finds. I'm mostly interested in how to cleverly tie things together.

NEW! Salvo/Resnick Wedding Invitation

Check out my latest design!

This textured, half-moon enclosure is a contemporary retake on the invitation inner-envelope. Wrapped with a sash of light gray and ivory cranes in flight (a symbol of long life and good tidings), this design elegantly reflects the maturity of the hosts and the event itself.

Pen and Ink Calligraphy

I have terrible handwriting. For this reason, I always admire those who's penmanship is above average. During a recent Etsy visit, I came across Pen and Ink Calligraphy by Lisa Ridgely. Some of my brides have inquired about this type of service, so please check out her site and services.

Marry Me Mug

The teacup has an engagement ring attached to the lower end of the cup. The idea behind this product is that you could give your partner a hint that you would like to get married. When the user holds the cup in their hand their finger slides in to the ring and it looks like its being worn as an engagement ring. On designspotter, by Ann-Louise Tingelof & Alicia Ongay-Perez.

The Letter "G"

I have a fondness for the letter "G." I also have passion for design. Mix the two together in a clever way and I see sparks. I recently found this website and I swear I could feel my heart smile. gDiapers are earth-friendly AND fashion-forward.
